Native to China and Mongolia, goji berries have been an integral part of traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. Goji berries (Lycium barbarum) are also known as lucky berries or buckthorn fruit. They belong to the nightshade family.

The goji berry contains vitamins A, C, D, E and K as well as various B vitamins. It also contains minerals such as sodium, potassium, magnesium and phosphorus as well as trace elements such as iron, zinc, copper, fluoride and manganese.
