Spinach

The valuable leafy vegetable

Native to the Middle and Near East, spinach has become popular around the world. Although spinach contains ten times less iron than long thought, the leafy vegetable is one of the iron-rich foods.

Ingredients

Besides iron, spinach contains many other important ingredients. The plant is a good source of beta-carotene, folic acid, vitamins A and B. Spinach is also rich in magnesium, calcium and zinc.

Spinach as a medicinal plant

The leafy vegetable is also highly valued as a medicinal plant.

The leaves are considered an easily digestible gentle food and can thus be used for flatulence & diarrhea. In addition, due to the content of magnesium, spinach can lower blood pressure and positively influence muscle development. Furthermore, spinach has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
