Oats (Avena sativa) are cultivated worldwide as a food and fodder plant. Although the wild form of the cultivated plant was known as early as 5,000 BC in the Near East, it has only been cultivated for about 3,000 years. Oats belong to the sweet grasses (Poaceae) and are an annual, light green grass growing up to 1 meter high.

Nutrient richness

Green oats are the green above-ground parts of the plant harvested just before flowering. The plant contains many important ingredients. Among them fiber, flavonoids, antioxidants, saponins, vitamins B1, B2, B6, D & E, amino acids and zinc, iron, manganese, calcium, silica & folic acid. 

Effect & Application

Due to its richness in nutrients, oats can be used for many different ailments. For example, due to the diuretic effect of the saponins it contains, oats can help eliminate uric acid. Therefore, it is especially recommended for people with gout.. 

In addition, the plant strengthens the physiological function of the intestinal mucosa due to the minerals and silicic acid present. Thus, the consumption of oats can also strengthen its own immune defenses.. 

In addition, oats help with bone health. The contained calcium has a high biological availability and can therefore be easily absorbed by the body.
