Grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.), or also known as vine, is part of the grapevine family and medicinal plant of the year 2023.
The branched climbing woody plant is native to the Caucasus, but now grows wild in the foothills of the Danube, in the Mediterranean and Asia Minor, and is also cultivated worldwide to produce wine.
Ingredients
The main ingredients include flavonoids, anthocyanins and tannins.
Leaf extracts from red vine leaves also contain a high proportion of polyphenols. Their effects on chronic venous insufficiency through antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties are recognized. (Source).
The grape seeds are rich in oligomeric proanthocyanidins. These secondary plant compounds are also found in the shell.
