Field Horsetail

Effect & Application

The field horsetail is considered a living fossil. The plant is the descendant of the formerly most species-rich group of vascular spore plants (Pteridophyta) and has been on our planet for about 400 million years. The field horsetail is native to the northern hemisphere.

Ingredients

The plant contains flavonoids and silicates. Particularly high is the content of silicic acid, which is responsible for the use of the plant as a medicinal plant.

Application

Field horsetail has been used as a medicinal plant for centuries. It has a diuretic effect, which is why it is used internally to treat urinary tract infections and cystitis. Externally, the plant is used for superficial wounds.
